Grave of the Week: Thelonious Monk

Today would have been Thelonious Monk’s 99th birthday. The famed jazz pianist died in 1982, and is buried in the amazingly eclectic Forest Lawn Cemetery in Hartsdale, NY.

I know effectively nothing about jazz, a personal failing I’ve come to grips with at this point in my life. But I know Monk was a Big Deal.

Hopefully sooner rather than later I’ll have a longer post up – I’ve got a few things in the works, but work is busy and the playoffs are on, so time is at a minimum. Until then, here’s a link to some Thelonious Monk stuff for your listening pleasure. Happy Sunday!
