Watching the horrible flooding in Baton Rouge, it’s hard to imagine I was walking in those streets only a few months ago. Here are a few photos from that day, a reminder of better and drier times.
While we weren’t walking along the hardest hit area, as far as I can tell, It’s all I’ve got from the city, as we only made a day trip there. Still, I wanted to put them up in solidarity; the people of Baton Rouge have endured a terrible year with the killing of Alton Sterling and the widespread protests that followed; the killings of three Baton Rouge police officers amidst the unrest, and now these floods. Here’s hoping for a quick recovery from the flooding and a resumption of the difficult conversations and needed reforms around policing and race.
